A Delicate Atelier in Fatih

Gıyasettin Gelir, who is the master of the precision casting sculpture, has professed this job for 25 years. He makes a mould by using wax and rubber materials and then he produces empty sculptures and tools by pouring mines such as gold, silver and bronze into the mould. He offers sensitive products such as sculptures, sensitive door handles, parts of teapot to other workshops and stores together with his six employees working in his veteran workshop in Fatih, İstanbul. The secret of Gıyasettin Gelir, the Master of wax casting, is hidden in the grace of his craft.

We are passing through authentic mosques remained from Aydınids (or Aydınid dynasty) in Tire district of İzmir. We are looking over stone houses while we are breathing smell of saddle inside the historical bazaar. We visit Abdullah Usta whose shop is placed on the left side when moving to Paşa Mosque. He started his own craft, which was inherited from his father, in 1962. We are speaking a 54-year saddler Usta.
